Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 16, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how FormatList ("we", "us", or "our") operates formatlist.com and how information is collected, used, and shared when you use our free online developer tools and website.
1. Who we are
FormatList provides browser-based utilities for formatting, converting, repairing, and transforming developer data (for example JSON, Markdown, SQL, CSV, and dates).
Contact for privacy questions or feedback: gxhito@gmail.com. You can also use the form on our About / Feedback page.
2. Tool data you paste or upload
Our tools are designed to process your content locally in your browser. JSON, Markdown, SQL, CSV, dates, and similar inputs you paste or load into a tool are not uploaded to FormatList servers for processing.
If you download a file from a tool (for example a CSV export), that file is generated on your device. We do not operate a backend that stores your tool payloads as part of normal tool use.
Note: your browser, extensions, network provider, or device backups may still process data according to their own policies. We cannot control those third parties.
3. Information we collect on the website
Separate from tool payloads, the website may collect limited technical and interaction data needed to run, improve, and monetize the service:
- Usage analytics — pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, device/browser type, referrer, and similar metrics via Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID
G-KCBN367JR9). - Advertising data — when ads are served, Google AdSense and advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, advertising IDs, and similar technologies to deliver, measure, and personalize ads (publisher ID
ca-pub-5089629896295177). - Feedback you submit — if you send a message through our contact form, we receive the email address and message content you provide (relayed via FormSubmit to our inbox).
- Server / hosting logs — our hosting provider may automatically log IP addresses, request paths, and timestamps for security and reliability.
- Local preferences — some UI state may be stored in your browser (for example cookies or local storage for interface preferences).
4. Cookies, advertising, and third parties
Third parties, including Google, may place or read cookies on your browser or use web beacons / similar technologies when you visit FormatList. These technologies may collect identifiers such as cookie IDs, IP address, and device information.
We use Google AdSense to display ads and help keep the tools free to use. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites. We do not sell the content you paste into tools as a product; advertising is based on site usage and partner systems, not on uploading your tool payloads to FormatList.
Google's use of information for advertising is described here:
- How Google uses information from sites that use its services
- Google Privacy Policy
- Google Ad Settings — manage personalized ads
- Opt out of personalized advertising (or visit aboutads.info/choices)
Other third parties you may interact with through our site include:
- FormSubmit — delivers feedback form submissions to our email.
- Buy Me a Coffee — optional donations; their privacy practices apply when you leave FormatList for their checkout.
- Hosting / CDN providers — deliver the site and may process request logs.
5. How we use information
- Operate, secure, and improve FormatList
- Understand aggregate traffic and feature usage
- Display and measure advertising
- Respond to feedback and support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not intentionally use tool payload content (the data you paste into converters and formatters) for advertising audiences, because that content is processed in your browser and is not sent to our servers as part of normal tool use.
6. Legal bases (EEA / UK visitors) and cookie banner
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on appropriate legal bases under applicable law, which may include legitimate interests (site security), consent (analytics and advertising cookies), and performance of a request you make (responding to feedback you submit).
FormatList uses a cookie consent banner and Google Consent Mode v2 with regional defaults. For visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, advertising and analytics storage are set to denied until you choose Accept all or Reject non-essential. For visitors outside those regions, analytics and ads are enabled by default (you can still open Cookie settings in the footer to change this). If you reject non-essential cookies, we do not load Google Analytics or AdSense marketing scripts for that choice. You may also use the Google ad settings links above to manage personalization at the Google account level.
7. Data retention
Analytics and advertising data are retained according to Google's product settings and policies. Feedback emails are kept as long as needed to respond and maintain reasonable records. Hosting logs are retained according to our provider's defaults and security needs.
8. Sharing of information
We share information with service providers that help us run the site (analytics, advertising, hosting, form delivery) as described above. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security. We do not sell your name or email as a standalone mailing list product.
9. Children
FormatList is intended for a general developer audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or the age defined by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
10. Your choices and rights
- Use browser settings to block or delete cookies
- Manage Google ad personalization via the links in section 4
- Contact us at gxhito@gmail.com to request access, correction, or deletion of personal data we hold (for example feedback emails), subject to applicable law
11. International transfers
We and our providers (including Google) may process data in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have different data-protection laws than your home jurisdiction.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of FormatList after an update means you accept the revised policy, except where applicable law requires additional consent.
